WHY WE PLAY
The body is a school for the soul.
Competitive athletics teach what books cannot: how to lose without rancor, win without arrogance, suffer without complaint, and work toward a common end with people who do not always agree with you. We take athletics at Saint Charles Borromeo seriously for the same reason we take Latin seriously — because the formation it offers cannot be had elsewhere.
All Saint Charles Borromeo teams play in the diocesan league or private school league. Practices begin after the academic day; games are held on weekday evenings and some weekends. Every child who wishes to compete, plays.

HOW WE COMPETE
Three expectations of every athlete.
I.
Prayer before play.
Every team prays together before games and after them.
II.
Compete with respect.
Athletes carry themselves with self-control on and off the field — no taunting opponents, no arguing with officials, no theatrics. The opposing team is greeted before the game and thanked after.
III.
Effort, not score.
We thank the team after a loss exactly as we do after a win. Effort, attention, and sportsmanship are what is praised — or corrected.
Come to a game.
The athletic schedule is published in the school calendar. Saint Charles Borromeo games are always open to prospective families — there is no better way to meet our community at its best.
